Designing the Desert Oasis Luxury showhouse in Indian Wells, California was so much fun! I created design stories for both the powder which romanced a Tropicalia grotto and the laundry room which featured midcentury graphics. I highlighted both rooms with concealed lighting that highlighted details and created jewel boxes out of small spaces.
DESERT OASIS LUXURY SHOWHOUSE

In this Desert Oasis Show House, i was given the task to reimagine a classic, midcentury home into into a tropical Polynesian paradise.
Here, I take us back into a Technicolor Grotto that romances Post War Tropicalia in the Powder room, using an indigenous tribal wall and floor pattern carved in reclaimed teak by Teaki Tiles. The water running from the faucet reminded me of a small waterfall spilling into a lava rock on a remote island. sitting on a vintage, 60’s bamboo cabinet that could easily come from the South Pacific. the walls are Hula girls dancing on grasscloth.
The blue ceiling could be the color of the sky, or a reflection of a blue lagoon. Either way, the blue connects the captivating Polynesian Oceania art to the ceiling. Concealed Lighting highlights and floats the ceiling within the space. The switch allows the peremeter to be used as mood lighting . It's a feeling. You can almost smell the flowers, reminiscent of sweet fragrant plumerias in the lighting by Circa. It's a symphonic design story that allows you to escape where it’s exotic, tropical, and playful.
